Home Harvest Ride 2010 Routes For The Harvest Ride

Routes for the Harvest Ride

Riders can choose between three routes.

(Link to maps at bottom of this page)

The Century Loop, ride like a pro.
The 100 mile loop allows riders to experience the challenge and beauty of driftless touring. Departing from rolling prairies, riders will take roads into the northern reaches of the driftless region. Roads and climbs so good the organizers of the Nature Valley Pro Stages decided to include a few on the Menomonie stage. Terrain is challenging and the views are outstanding. Riders are challenged with five climbs as well as five eye-watering descents. At each end of this 37 mile loop riders will find a full rest stop and a lightly supported stop (water, fruit, rest rooms) mid way in Knapp. This loop is an optional route which riders can opt to ride at the last minute. Following along on the 65 mile route, riders will break away and return to the Glen Hills rest stop where they can replenish before moving on.

65 miles of paradise.
65 miles of rolling prairie, an endless network of paved back roads and very little traffic. A cycling paradise awaits riders of the 65 & 100 mile routes. A super opportunity for tempo riding or practice pace line skills. If the day calls for a leisurely pace, riders can slow the pace to chat and take in the great views as this is the time of year the harvest is in full swing. This route is supported with full rest stops at 26 and 51 miles. The last 18 miles of this route wanders past lakes then descends into the Willow river bottoms where riders will pass fishermen and the remains of a spring fed trout hatchery of earlier days.

The practice 40.
The first half of this forty mile route is comprised of relatively flat, straight roads.  Midway through the route riders will find a full rest stop at the Richmond town hall located in Boardman.  Leaving out of Boardman, riders will share the same scenic roads with the other routes as they make their way back to the Hudson town hall.  This forty is one of my practice routes. With few obstructions this route works well for the evenings when I need to concentrate on tempo.

25 miles, why not waste away a perfectly good day.
The 25 miler is designed with the intent to provide riders with an easy and scenic ride. It's about as flat as the region will allow. Wandering past small lakes, though prairie and down into the Willow river bottoms, riders will pass the remains of a spring fed trout hatchery of earlier days. Riders will find a fully supported rest stop midway and grin when 'Rustic Road 13' relinquishes precious elevation. Bring your camera, check up on the fly fishing, and plan on wasting away a perfectly good day.
